J. Cullen's Heritage Works provides handcrafted OCP patrol cap blocking, with every order starting from a brand-new patrol cap selected specifically for the customer's finished fit.

Each cap is individually structured, blocked, shaped, and finished by hand. A silk interior lining, concealed magnet, and personalized nametape are incorporated during the build to create a clean, finished product inside and out.

The finished cap carries forward a much older American military tradition of deliberately shaping and structuring field headgear for a sharper appearance. From the stiffened Ridgeway-style field caps of the 1950s to today's blocked OCP patrol caps, the uniforms have changed, but the emphasis on structure, presentation, and craftsmanship has endured.

Every hat is made individually with an emphasis on proper fit, clean lines, and preserving a craft that is becoming increasingly uncommon.

There is no hat to send in. Every order begins with a new patrol cap.

Sizing

Choose the size that normally fits you.

When ordering, select the size of an unblocked patrol cap that currently fits you correctly.

Do not size down yourself. We handle the sizing adjustment during production.

Blocking causes the patrol cap to expand approximately one standard 1/8-size increment. Because of this, your hat will be constructed using a patrol cap one size smaller than the size you normally wear.

For example:

Normally wear 7 1/4?
Select 7 1/4 when ordering.
Your hat will be made from a 7 1/8 patrol cap.

Normally wear 7 3/8?
Select 7 3/8 when ordering.
Your hat will be made from a 7 1/4 patrol cap.

Important

The manufacturer's size tag inside your finished hat will show the smaller production size.

This is intentional and is not a sizing error.

The blocking process expands the patrol cap to achieve your intended finished fit.

State Flag — +$5

Choose a state flag for the interior of your hat.

Submit personal, organizational, specialty, or other non-Honor-Guard artwork for your interior design.

Only one interior design may be selected per hat. State flags and emblems cannot be combined.

Custom Design Approval

Custom Base Honor Guard designs and Custom / Specialty Emblems are never finalized without your approval.

After your order is received, a digital proof will be created and sent for review. You will be able to:

• Approve Design — Your design is approved for production.
• Request Changes — Let us know what you would like adjusted and a revised proof will be prepared.

Production of the custom interior design will not be finalized until the proof has been approved.

Please carefully review spelling, wording, colors, symbols, and design details before approving your proof. What you approve is what we make.

Nametape

Every order includes a personalized nametape. Enter your last name exactly as you want it to appear.

Please verify spelling before submitting your order. Nametapes are ordered specifically for each customer and may take approximately 1–2 weeks to arrive before final assembly can be completed.

Estimated Turnaround

Every hat is made to order.

Standard Orders — Approximately 3–4 weeks

This generally includes: no emblem, standard Honor Guard emblems, state flags, and existing/pre-designed options.

Custom-Designed Orders — Approximately 4–6 weeks

This includes custom Base Honor Guard emblems, location-specific designs, and Custom / Specialty Emblems requiring original design work.

Turnaround times are estimates and are not guaranteed completion dates. Supplier delays, nametape availability, order volume, proof revisions, and other circumstances may affect completion time.

If you need your hat for a specific ceremony, graduation, evaluation, TDY, or other deadline, please contact us before ordering. Expedited completion cannot be guaranteed unless approved in advance.

Fit Guarantee

Your blocked hat should look right and fit right.

If your finished hat does not fit properly, return the original cap and J. Cullen's Heritage Works will produce one replacement blocked hat in the corrected size at no additional charge for the replacement hat or blocking service.

The customer is responsible for shipping the original hat back. J. Cullen's Heritage Works will cover standard shipping of the corrected replacement back to the customer.

The original hat must be returned before the replacement is completed and must remain in its original condition. Hats that have been washed, damaged, permanently altered, or modified are not eligible. One complimentary sizing correction is available per original order.

Shipping & Local Pickup

Nationwide U.S. shipping is available. Tracking information will be provided once your completed order ships.

Free local pickup is also available for eligible local customers. Select Local Pickup during checkout and wait until you receive a Ready for Pickup notification before attempting pickup.

Authorized Tradition

DAFI 36-2903 authorizes Airmen to block the OCP patrol cap while maintaining proper fit and appearance.
